The Constantia daycare centre offers childcare for 44 kindergarten children and 58 crèche children. The daycare centre is directly adjacent to the Emden university campus and is located in a quiet residential area in Constantia in Emden.
The centre has been operating as a kindergarten since 1991 and a crèche group was added in 2000. In 2012, the daycare centre was extended with a spacious new building, so that it now consists of two kindergarten groups and four crèche groups.
Our mission statement is based on the principles of holistic, situation-orientated care and support. Our centre offers a protected and loving space for children aged six months to six years in which they can develop individually. Our educational work is characterised by the following principles:
Our aim is to accompany the children on their individual development path and to strengthen their independence, creativity and social skills. Close cooperation with the parents/guardians is an important component for us in order to support the child's development in the best possible way.
We not only speak High German, but also Low German. This special linguistic diversity not only promotes the children's language development, but also connects them with the cultural roots of our region. In this way, we help to keep traditions alive and create a unique learning environment.
We focus on the children's individual environments and experiences. We pick up on their current issues and needs and organise our daily routine flexibly accordingly. In this way, we enable the children to actively shape their environment and promote their independence, creativity and social skills in a very natural way.
The close connection between the two areas enables the children to make a smooth transition. Through joint projects and regular contact, the younger children learn from the older ones and build trust at an early age. This close networking promotes a strong sense of community and gently accompanies the children in their development process.
All of our children have a wide range of opportunities to move around. A large outdoor area and special exercise rooms offer the children daily space to develop their motor skills and discover the joy of movement. These activities not only promote physical health, but also encourage social interaction and creativity.
Our team is passionate and committed to supporting the children's development every day. The diversity of experience and expertise in the team enables us to respond to the individual needs of the children and create a warm, supportive environment.
We are pleased to be a kindergarten centre in cooperation with the Emden Music Academy. As part of this co-operation, a music project takes place once a week in which our children are introduced to music and rhythm in a playful way.
A special pre-school project takes place in the kindergarten area as part of the pre-school work. This project is accompanied by exciting activities, including a visit to the theatre on the subject of road safety, which teaches the children important rules of the road in a playful way. The programme also includes a trip to the "Mach mit-Museum" in Aurich, where the children can discover and deepen their knowledge in an interactive way.
At the end of their kindergarten years, the pre-school children have the special opportunity to spend the night at the kindergarten. This sleepover is a highlight of the year and offers the children the opportunity to experience an exciting time together before they start school. With games, stories and a short evening programme, the farewell to kindergarten becomes an unforgettable experience.
The cinema evening in the kindergarten is an exciting highlight for the children! On this evening, the children come back to the kindergarten to watch a "cinema film" together. In a cosy atmosphere with cushions and blankets, the group room becomes a cinema hall where the children can enjoy an age-appropriate film. Of course, a small snack is also a must!

In our crèche area, we are a multilingual facility, as Low German is also spoken regularly with the children. This programme is supervised by a qualified specialist who introduces the children to Low German in a playful way, thus promoting linguistic diversity and cultural traditions in our facility.
Both the crèche and the kindergarten offer a special excursion once a year. The crèche children visit the Ökowerk in Emden, where they can experience nature up close. The kindergarten changes its excursion destinations every year in order to offer the children a variety of experiences. Exciting places such as zoos or exhibitions for children are on the programme.
As part of a special "cinema evening" at the crèche, parents are given an insight into their children's everyday lives. Parents can experience how their children play, learn and spend their time in the group by watching videos they have made themselves, which capture everyday life at the crèche. This evening offers a wonderful opportunity to follow the children's development and get to know the daycare centre from a new perspective.
Once a week, our cosy "Teetied" takes place in the crèche. In the afternoon, the children sit together, drink tea together and enjoy a quiet time in a relaxed atmosphere. This ritual not only promotes a sense of community, but also offers the children a lovely opportunity to calm down.
"We are currently in the process of founding the association and invite all parents and friends of our centre to get actively involved. The aim of the Friends' Association is to support our daycare centre with additional funding and resources in order to realise exciting projects, events and activities for our children.
