Our task
A good working atmosphere is very important to Studierendenwerk Oldenburg. It is forbidden to treat employees unequally. It is also forbidden to bully or harass employees.
We at the Anti-Discrimination Office work against discrimination, bullying and harassment.
All people have the same rights. All people should be treated equally.

Discussions with us are confidential. Nobody learns anything without permission.

What are characteristics for which people are discriminated against?
Discrimination can relate to various characteristics or attributes.
Such characteristics are, for example
- what someone looks like
- what language someone speaks
- what someone believes in
- what someone thinks
- whether someone is a man or a woman
- whether someone loves men or women
- whether someone feels like a man or a woman - or someone else
- how old someone is
- whether someone is disabled or ill
What is bullying?
Bullying means that a person is repeatedly treated badly on purpose over a long period of time. This often happens by the same people.
Bullying can look like this, for example:
- A person is repeatedly laughed at or insulted.
- Lies are told about a person.
- The person is excluded.
Important:
Bullying is never okay! It is hurtful and unfair. Nobody has to put up with bullying.
What is sexual harassment?
Sexual harassment happens when one person comes too close to another and the other person does not want this. Sexual harassment can happen in many ways.
For example
- suggestive remarks or jokes
- unwanted touching
- intrusive looks
- Showing pictures or videos with sexual content
- Requests for sexual acts.
Important:
Sexual harassment is never a joke. Even if the other person says nothing, it can still be harassment.
